What is a Work KITAS?

A Work KITAS allows a foreign national to legally live and work in Indonesia for an approved Indonesian employer and position.

Unlike visas designed for remote workers or investors, a Work KITAS is connected to your Indonesian sponsoring company and approved employment position. The employer must meet the relevant requirements to sponsor a foreign employee.

Work KITAS Validity

Depending on the approved position and employment arrangements, a Work KITAS is generally issued for 6 or 12 months.

During the validity of your stay permit, you can travel internationally and return to Indonesia without cancelling your KITAS, provided your immigration permissions remain valid.

Renewal may also be possible depending on your employment, company sponsorship and current immigration regulations.

Longer-Term Work KITAS Options

Certain foreign workers may qualify for longer-term stay permits depending on their position, qualifications and the sponsoring company.

This may include eligible Directors of PT PMA companies and certain qualified professionals who meet Indonesia's education, experience and employment requirements.

Work KITAS Price

1-Year Offshore Work KITAS
IDR 16,000,000 + applicable government employment levy/fees.

1-Year Onshore Work KITAS
IDR 16,500,000 + applicable government employment levy/fees.

For a 12-month foreign worker permit, the mandatory government DKPTKA levy is generally USD 100 per month (USD 1,200 for 12 months), where applicable.

Additional government or immigration charges may apply depending on the application and permit required.

Processing Time

Processing times depend on whether you are applying from inside or outside Indonesia and whether all employer and employee documentation is ready.

Offshore applications: approximately 1–2 months.

Onshore applications: approximately 1 month.

For an onshore application, your current immigration status must be eligible for conversion to a KITAS. Contact us before applying so we can check your current visa and confirm whether an onshore application is possible.

Documents Required From the Employee

The documents required can vary depending on the position, but generally include:

• Passport with sufficient remaining validity

• Passport cover

• Recent passport photograph

• Diploma or relevant education certificate

• CV / résumé

• Evidence of relevant professional experience

• Reference or employment letter from a previous employer, where required

• Health or medical insurance

• Employment contract and supporting employment information

Additional documents may be requested depending on the applicant's position, qualifications and industry.

Documents Required From the Sponsoring Company

The Indonesian employer will also need to provide company and employment documentation. This may include:

• Deed of Establishment and any amendments

• Ministry of Law approval / SK Kemenkumham

• Current AHU company information

• Company NPWP

• NIB (Business Identification Number)

• PKKPR, where applicable

• Standard Certificate and/or relevant business licences

• Company letterhead and stamp

• Director's Indonesian ID (KTP), or passport and KITAS if the Director is a foreign national

• Immigration account details, where applicable

• Current mandatory company employment reporting

• Employment contract

• Company bank statement or other financial documentation where required

• Additional licences or documents relating to the company's KBLI and business activities
